I left a message in a bottle on the pebbled beach in Nice.

I got a message on my computer today from someone who found it.

Do you ever wonder what's up with the word 'won't'?

I do: what's up with that?

I got a bit bored and bit inspired. So, my very first foray into Heroes fanfic!

No matter how it happens...we always wind up alone... )

(This is way old, and I just hadn't gotten around to posting it...)

So, I have no idea where to start. My heart is racing, breath quickened, euphoria prolonged.

<continue breathing slowly><start at the beginning> )

Our dollar is still rising, but we're still getting fucked by retailers, getting charged through the roof for shit that's sold for significantly less in the US.

Our public transit fares are being hiked again, but they're not doing too much about the rising number of assaults and muggings on the TTC. This makes me glad I ride my bike everywhere.

The beat from the street: "Traffic is Killing Us." I think: "O RLY?" I never would have thought pollution was a problem. My sarcasm, however, is forgotten the second I see the plans to help cut back on pollution, such as bike share programs and more bike lanes. It's good talk, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah, I never watch this show.

I think I hate one of my best friends.

Is it wrong to keep my life simple by cutting her out of it?

7am: shower, shampoo
a pink towel wrapped around
my hair. Back in bed, I stare,
sleepily mind you [I'm still half
awake] at the TV. In half an hour
I will rise for real, make eggs,
toast with chese melted onto it, have
cereal drowning in a mug. That's
for later, though. Right now, I think:
I love good commentaries
and follow with: and beautiful
men on Saturday mornings.

(oh bad poetry, I hope you wont make me late for work...)

I marvel: even
preservatives want us to
lose weight nowadays!

I get so sick of his crap sometimes. )

In other news, I start work tomorrow, I started NaNoWriMo yesterday (another project...), and I don't know which I'm more nervous about. I also spent my Halloween being lavished with free stuff and unprecedented male attention (which, frankly, kind of unnerves me...) and got to experience the Grateful Dead with a true blue dead head.

Because I'm feeling prosey... )

this chump on the TV, wearing his hat backwards, keeps telling me: "Sunday night is football night!"

I wonder: "Who are you trying to convince?"

So.

In addition to the red, permanent numbers scrawled across the back of my left forearm, I also have a gigantic hickey on my neck.

Curiouser and curiouser...

(I think I need to stop drinking whiskey.)

Hm.
What do you do when you wake up with a random phone number written on your arm and want to find out who and where it came from?

The logical answer would be to call it and ask.

I'm still debating what to do. Suggestions?

It struck me walking home with Evan last night: I have letters after my name.

It's no PhD or MD but, still, I have credentials!

Kayt Bognar, RMT ...there's a whole new world out there for you, baby!

(okay...I'm done being a dork now ^^; )

but I don't eat meat.

Last night the riots started here in Budapest again, not as bad as they were last year (my cousins have showed my videos of the insane and pretty scary riots from the 18th of september 2006 which lasted for weeks after the fact.) but still pretty scary, and tonight its expected to start up again. If you go looking on youtube (which I suggest, because its shocking and worth a look) dont believe ambitious folks putting videos together calling what happened police brutality, the animals rioting caused the situations where such force was neccessary.

But, about this year... We were out a little pub not far from my cousins place (like a Hungarian McSorleys, I recokoned) and all of a sudden we get panicked phone calls from her mother insisting we come home ASAP because the riot had started by the Opera house and the containment zone was spreading. My cousin Daniella was panicking becuase she couldnt reach her husband, a police officer working the riots, and for most of the ngiht we were watching the news about malatov cocktails down on Anrassy ut. and seeing the police out in force all decked out in riot gear.

Its really sad that there are still ignorant, neo nazi supportors in a country where so much tragedy sprung out of fascism and antisemitism. During the second world war one out of every ten jews murdered was Hungarian, and following that countless thousands, maybe millions, were sent to gulags, tortured and murdered during the fascist and communist occupations, religion no longer stringent criteria for persecution, only free thought and opposition of the government. Talking with my cousin Kata and her friend Hannah, it makes me really thankful to live in a place where you dont have to live in fear of persecuation and oppression for your faith or beliefs.

So yeah, a bit of information to hopefully make all of us in Canada and the USofA stop and think a bit about how lucky we are.

(p.s. needless to say, we will be staying in tonight, slightly anticlimactic for my last night in Europe, but its probably better than getting in a spot and not coming home at all...)
